Financial Aid and Scholarships

When to Apply

The best time to apply for financial aid for the 2008 - 2009 school year is between January 1 and March 1, 2008. A paper application may be picked up from your high school guidance counselor, parish library, or from the LSU Alexandria Financial Aid and Scholarships office located in Abrams Hall Room 109 as soon as possible. Use your completed 2007 Federal Income Tax form to complete the 2008 - 2009 FAFSA. In order to be eligible for Louisiana State Aid programs for the fall semester, you must submit the FAFSA by March 15. A new FAFSA must be filed each year. The Title IV school code for Louisiana State University Alexandria is 002011. This one application will determine eligibility for:

  • Federal Pell Grants
  • Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grants
  • Federal Stafford Loans
  • Federal College Work-Study
  • Louisiana State Aid programs
  • TOPS

In addition to the federal and state programs, LSU Alexandria offers several institutional and endowed scholarships. Eligibility requirements for these scholarships vary, although they are primarily awarded on the basis of academic performance and financial need. These scholarships are awarded in the spring of each year; so it is important to apply early. In order to be considered for institutional and endowed scholarships, applications should be submitted before March 1.
