Work-Study

LSU Alexandria Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships offers to students the following work programs: Federal Work Study (FWS), America Reads, and LSU Alexandria Employment.

  • Federal Work-Study Program (FWS)

    The Federal Work-Study (FWS) program is a need-based program that provides students with part-time employment to help meet their financial need and give them work experience while helping the campus and the surrounding community. FWS students may work 20 hours per week at minimum labor and wages. Interested students must file a FAFSA/Renewal FAFSA and submit an application for work study.

  • America Reads Program

    The America Reads program employs Federal Work-Study students to serve as reading tutors to elementary school children. Students may work a maximum of 20 hours per week. Interested students must file a FAFSA/Renewal FAFSA and submit an application.

  • LSU Alexandria Employment

    The LSU Alexandria employment program provides students with part-time employment to help them financially and to give them work experience. Students may work a maximum of 20 hours per week. Interested students should submit an application.

Steps to getting an on-campus job:
  1. Meet the following requirements:
    • Full-Time Student (12 hours or more)
    • Maintained a "C" average during last semester as a full-time student or is making satisfactory academic progress as determined by the university.
  2. Fill out an application at the Financial Aid and Scholarships office
  3. Interview with a job supervisor for one of the following jobs:
    • Library Assistant
    • Office Assistant
    • Food Service Worker
    • Laboratory Assistant
    • Research Assistant
    • Grounds Assistant
    • Recreation Assistant
    • Desk Attendant
